Pundit identifies Rangers weakness that Gerrard can’t really fix right now

|

Rangers will be looking to pick up from where they left off in the league when action resumes in the Scottish Premiership this weekend coming.

The Gers went top of the league after hammering Hamilton and up next it’s Hearts so we’ll be looking to get another big win and really show Celtic we’re here to stay at the top of the league.

However, for Alan Hutton, there is one weakness for the Gers that needs addressing – and it’s one that Steven Gerrard probably can’t right now either.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back had this to say on the current one:

“I don’t see anyone who is going to come in and run him close for his position due to what he brings going forward.

“So many goals, so many assists, I don’t see anyone taking his position.

“I think Gerrard is right, I don’t see anyone as undroppable as you become too comfortable as a player if that’s the case.

“It’s a difficult one because there’s no one probably there who is actually pushing him on, it is a difficult one as no one is really going to run him close.”

You do need competition across the squad, and at right-back there really isn’t much.

You’d argue Jon Flanagan could play there but he’s featured at left-back a lot and has been injured a lot, so there are still question marks, though Borna Barisic looks as though he is nailing the left down.

With the window no time soon, there’s no immediate solution either.
