Portuguese daily sports newspaper A Bola have heavily featured Porto’s chase for Alfredo Morelos in recent days.

The latest update from them suggests that the two-times champions of Europe are around 3 million short in their offer for the Colombian with Rangers holding out for closer to €15 million, than the €12mil deal that has been proposed, up to now.

This saga looks set to rumble on, but Steven Gerrard will want to know where he stands and most importantly, if he will need to replace a major component of his team and its system of play.

A Bola’s most recent report stated that a five year contract has already been agreed in principle with Morelos’ adviser Michael Gorman of the World in Motion agency:

“The Dragons insists on Morelos.”

“FC Porto is putting all the chips in the hiring of Alfredo Morelos, a Colombian forward for Rangers with important goalscoring for the Scots.”

“The dragons made a first attack with the player and his manager Michael Gorman, achieving absolute success, with the models in which the attacker will present himself in the blues and whites, with a contractual connection of five years already being defined.”

“The next step was the expression of interest with Rangers, with the delivery of a transfer proposal that will be around 12 million euros, three million less than requested by the Scottish emblem.”

A previous feature from the same source indicated that Porto would be looking to pay €10-12 million with the Gers asking price between €17-20mil.

A compromise of around 14-15mil looks a strong possibility but it all depends on how much Sérgio Conceição wants Morelos and the feelings of the player on the switch to the Primeira Liga.

A new life in Porto ticks many boxes from a personal and football perspective but it remains to be seen if an agreement will be reached between the two clubs for The Buffalo, currently on duty with the Colombia squad at Copa America.
