Scotland international Callum Paterson has admitted that Rangers star Eros Grezda was ‘hard to handle’ this weekend during the away fixture to Albania.

Grezda gave Paterson a tough test on the left flank during the encounter, which was eventually won by Alex McLeish’s side after the home side went down to ten men.

It was another sign that the new Rangers signing is finally approaching full match fitness and should be raring to go when the Gers return to action this weekend at home to Livingston.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, Paterson said:

It’s been a long time since I played right- back. It’s not my favourite position, it’s one of my least favourite places to play.

Grezda was a handful, but you have to look after yourself, and I didn’t really do that in the first 15-20 minutes.

There was a bit of rustiness but I felt as though I got into the game as it wore on. I’m happy to do a job for the team wherever I’m asked. It wasn’t as if I was getting chucked in at the deep end, even if it’s not something I’ve done for a long time.

But when I look back, I wasn’t too pleased with my performance. It wasn’t very good.

Grezda was in similarly good form recent at home to Motherwell, scoring two goals in a 7-1 win prior to the international break.

Given Rangers spent a significant transfer fee on the former NK Osijek player, fans have been waiting for a return on that investment and it looks like we’ll get to see that in the coming weeks and months.
