Former Rangers defender Sasa Papac has offered the club his services as a scout in the Balkans, speaking in an interview with The Scottish Sun.

The full-back made over 200 appearances for the Gers in a six year spell and although he retired back in 2012, he still checks on the progress of his Ibrox favourites.

And he’s been impressed with the way Steven Gerrard has gone about his business since taking charge of the club.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the 38-year-old said:

It’s great to see Rangers in Europe again. I have watched every game on TV and seeing those matches at Ibrox again is terrific. I am so surprised by it because we have not been in Europe over the past few years and the lads have coped with it really well.

If I can help, then I am here. Right now players from Croatia are very interesting for everybody because they did so well in the World Cup.

You can find some good players there and they are not expensive. This is important. It can be a very interesting country in future. Nikola Katic and Borna Barisic came over and, of course, Eros Grezda signed from Osijek.

Scouting and watching players is not my job but in future who knows? I have no job right now and I am waiting.

Going on to state that he will be a Rangers supporter for life it’s great to hear that the former player, who became something of a cult favourite at the club, is still following the highs and lows of the club so closely.

Although Steven Gerrard has clearly utilised his English contacts in his search for players, it would be useful to scout Eastern European and Balkan leagues for talent.

Both Katic and Barisic have impressed in spells since joining and Eros Grezda is beginning to look the part too.

Should Rangers take Papac up on his offer?
