Midfielder Ryan Jack’s performance for Rangers in last night’s Qualifying Second Round tie with FK Osijek left plenty of fans salivating.

Going into the game with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg abroad with Alfredo Morelos finding the net, Nikola Katic gave Rangers the advantage in the second leg but a late equaliser from the visitors did give the match a more nervy ending.

However, Rangers are through to the next stage and that’s all that ultimately matters and now we look forward to a two-legged affair against Maribor.

Having fought back to fitness following his injury last season, Jack put in a very impressive display in the middle of the park and he not only won plaudits from the fanbase, he got the ultimate accolade as manager Steven Gerrard purred with his showing and admitted that as a midfielder, Jack’s effort across the 90 minutes left him ‘jealous’ of the performance.

The Official Site have him saying.

“I thought Ryan Jack was absolutely stunning. I thought it was a stunning performance – I think in Scotland you call it the number four role, in England it’s the number six – whatever it is, it was an absolutely stunning performance from him.”

Gerrard also treated the press to.

“This is a kid who missed six months at the back end of last season. I am delighted with Ryan’s performance. I’ve got a good type on my hands there. He’s a player who cares, who wants to win and is prepared to go out and do exactly what you’ve asked of him. I think he made one minor mistake during 90 minutes in a big football match. As a midfielder, I was jealous of Ryan’s performance tonight.”

Fans weren’t arguing as they reacted to the game themselves on social media.
