A well-connected journalist has provided some brief insight from a personal perspective on Rangers related matters given the ongoing situation around the manager’s position.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst enters the World Cup break in a precarious position following a dismal week for his team with very little remaining support for him to remain in the role. A further development from Ibrox is expected at some point with the Dutchman having returned home as planned during this shutdown but the severity of the situation is most likely to bring about further updates in due course.

The Rangers support is expecting something ahead of the AGM early next month.

Journalist Alan Nixon usually shoots from the hip in a direct way on his Twitter account with nothing within reason off limits but he normally has his ear close to the ground on topical matters in the game north and south of the border. On Monday, he gaves his own assumption that Gio would not remain at Ibrox for too much longer as well as indicating that Sean Dyche is more likely to be set on obtaining a new job in the Premier League over the coming weeks and months.

He replied “No” when asked if GvB would still be in charge of Rangers following the World Cup and later answered a coule of questions on the former Burnley boss who has been linked as a potential replacement.

“Any Prem job” was the retort when asked if Dyche fancied particular role which was then reiterated with “Think it’s English Prem he wants …” when prompted if he would be drawn to Glasgow if the vacancy arises.

Sean Dyche is a clever man who kept himself firmly in the frame of contention and relevance within the media bubble, as was outlined with his desire to come to Ibrox for ‘an Old Firm game’ as he reminded everyone of his previous relationship with Ross Wilson.

The dialogue will continue for some time yet.
