No Deal For Brentford’s Jota

Mark Warburton’s hopes of signing Jota are now over after he turned out for Brentford in their FA Cup win over Eastleigh on Saturday.

Having already featured for Eibar during his loan spell – which was ended at the start of the year – he had returned to Brentford with a move to Rangers mooted. However, his appearance as a substitute for the Bees in a 5-1 win at the weekend rules out a switch to Ibrox.

FIFA rules would now prevent him signing for Rangers this month. Well, technically he could sign for us but he wouldn’t be able to play this season as you can’t play for any more than two clubs in any one season.

Warburton had worked with the Spaniard at Griffin Park but this interest will now end, which could well point to the potential loan deal for Bournemouth’s Emerson Hyndman who could seal his Rangers transfer this afternoon.

Reports in the Daily Record have claimed Rangers retain an interest in Jon Toral – who also had a spell at Brentford – though.

The Arsenal midfielder is set to end his spell in La Liga with Granada to link up with Rangers in the next day or so?
