Rangers are set to dip into the transfer market for the first time this month when it’s expected Bournemouth midfielder Emerson Hyndman will complete a loan switch to the club.

The 20 year old had spent five years at Fulham before signing for the Premier League club in the summer but his first team chances have been limited. Prior to starting an FA Cup defeat at Millwall as the weekend he had only managed two League Cup appearances from the bench.

Initial reports from STV – with it also claimed Matt Gilks will leave to join Wigan on loan – that the American international had arrived in Glasgow for talks on Sunday have been followed up by the BBC who have said he’s expected to finalise his temporary switch to Ibrox this afternoon.

Had things worked out differently the midfielder could have been playing in Scotland already with it previously claimed by the Daily Record that Celtic had tried to sign him when his Fulham contract expired in May – our rivals signed Moussa Dembele but missed out on Hyndman.

I’ve not seen much of the midfielder but when Jurgen Klinsmann was his boss with America he had said he was a ‘phenomenal’ footballer and had likened him to Italian legend Andrea Pirlo for his passing ability.
