One thing that has been a positive about behind closed doors football is getting to see a stellar line-up on Rangers TV with Neil McCann featuring regularly until he took up the manager’s role at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The former Light Blues winger is one of the best Scottish pundits going and it has been a fascinating insight getting technical analysis from someone who served the club so well in his playing days.

Just as he has overseen a change in fortunes at ICT, he is facing a difficult time in his personal life with a bitter divorce settlement that could cost him as much as £1million, as reported by  The Scottish Sun.

The main factor and focal point of the argument has been McCann’s fears of a looming tax bill in the region of £700,000 which originates from the payment of Employee Benefit Trusts (EBTs) which ultimately saw Rangers face the harshest of punishments in 2012.

When asked about the scheme and how it potentially impacts his ability to pay over £900,000 claimed by his ex-wife, he said:

“It’s not a pleasant thought.

“I wasn’t aware of this when I signed the contract and it causes me huge concerns.”

McCann isn’t the only player who could face such problems as the fall out of a scheme – that was perfectly legal when they were first implemented – continues, it’s one thing owing money to your ex-wife, it is another entirely owing it to HMRC, only one of them could end up with a potential jail sentence – no wonder he’s concerned.
