In his native Colombia, Alfredo Morelos is said to be tracked by two top European clubs with further talk growing of a possible Rangers departure.

As it turns out, those clubs featured are Sevilla – whose reported interest went viral last night – as well as Aston Villa, led by Steven Gerrard who knows the player inside out.

Despite coming from a mainstream outlet in Colombia, Revista Semana, the piece isn’t all that it seems.

The headline reads, “Alfredo Morelos is seduced by two ‘top’ teams in Europe; Rangers advises him not to go.”

The report included:

“Alfredo Morelos, the ‘Colombian buffalo’, is being tempted to take his goalscoring power to one of the top five leagues in the world.”

“Spain and England do not take their eyes off one of the best Cafeteros attackers in Europe, who with his goals has managed to establish himself and, therefore, draws the attention of teams like Seville from Spain, or Aston Villa in England, where he would have a reunion with his former manager at Rangers, Steven Gerrard.”

Publicity

There is no new information offered by Revista Semana, who carried the same source as was featured here on Vital Rangers last night in terms of the proposed offer from Andalusia.

An apparent €8 million bid from Sevilla has been dismissed by sources close to Rangers, claiming that no such proposal has been received.

Meanwhile, the only basis for the Villa feature is the continued speculation and the obvious link that exists between the clubs in Glasgow and Birmingham, with possible player trading both ways recently featured in the press.

If nothing else, this latest flurry of activity shows that Morelos’ future is a talking point in Scotland, Spain and back home for the 26-year old in Colombia with another couple of twists and turns certain before the end of this transfer window.
