Alfredo Morelos has been linked with a multi-million move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

The story emerged from a Turkish source who have suggested that a market price of 12 million Euros is in place for the Colombian international.

It is at this point that the reader detects alarm bells, given that Morelos valuation at Ibrox is certainly much more than the £10mil mark.

Writing for Takvim, Onur Kochan added:

“It was learned that Fenerbahce Coach Vitor Pereira was also keen on the transfer of Alfredo Morelos.”

“The name of the Colombian striker first came to Fenerbahçe’s agenda 2 years ago.”

It is fair to say that the reaction to this supposed story has been one of doubt and scepticism, even from Fener fans.

One fan site was crystal clear in their understanding of the situation, as below.

‘Nail on the head’ pretty much sums it up.

Yes, if an acceptable bid is received for El Bufalo, he will be on his way but it will be for significantly more than £10mil.

There is something of a freeze on transfers in football at present at the mid level, a hangover effect from the pandemic and the lack of ‘liquidity’ – basically there isn’t too much money floating around.

With that, there will be decisions for the Rangers directors to make, sticking or twisting, cashing in now and getting a return on players or maybe holding off for a bit more longer.

The failure of Champions League disappointment will bite but just when and to what extent, we will need to wait and see.

Regardless of that, it is most likely that the player will have designs on Spain, England or Portugal as a preferred destination when he moves on and with it, a CL breakthrough.

Anything less would be a disservice to the talents and capability of Alfredo Morelos.
