Early international call-up for Rangers star – can it provide boost to find form?

|

The September international break is a few weeks away but already the notice of call-ups has started.

Borna Barisic has been confirmed for Croatia’s camp, ahead of their games against Russia, Slovakia and Slovenia – all three are World Cup qualifiers.

Challenge

Can this act as a catalyst to spur the popular player to get back to his best?

It is very apparent that the former Osijek man has suffered from a broken pre-season, not helped by the injury he was nursing during EURO 2020 – and still to fully shake-off.

Due to that injury downtime, he wasn’t quite able to get in and hold down his spot in Zlatko Dalic’s side over the Summer – his only appearance came as a sub against Scotland at Hampden.

Now at Ibrox, Calvin Bassey is making quite an impression so the onus is on Barisic to get back to the form that he is more than capable of and to put a sluggish start to the campaign firmly behind him.

With challenges looming large on the domestic and international fronts right now, the Scottish title winner simply needs to rise to it and display his worth.
