Last night, there was more frustration for Alfredo Morelos as he was left out of the Colombia squad for the Copa America tie against Brazil.

Head coach Reinaldo Ruena once again overlooked the Rangers striker after only giving him the last 10 minutes of the preceeding game against Peru.

Instead, Ruena opted for the duo of Duvan Zapata and Rafael Satos Borre up front – with another striker in the form of Luis Diaz supporting from the left wing.

Just 10 minutes into the encounter, Diaz made an emphatic statement of intent – he really did.

I think the only word for this is…golazo!

An incredible finish, very easy on the eye.

Unfortunately for the Colombians, they were unable to hold on.

Disappointment

Into the second-half and Brazil equalised through Roberto Firminho.

Reina’s side were then further punished deep into added on time when Casemiro struck the winner for the tournament hosts.

Despite this latest defeat with the inability to see the game out, the Colombians will advance to the quarter-finals but it seems unlikely that Morelos will feature in any significant way.

With a fleeting sub appearance every few games, there is very little opportunity for El Bufalo to make an impact.

That situation is likely to remain until such a time that the Rangers star gets a run in the team.
