Another summer, another summer where Alfredo Morelos is linked with a move away from Ibrox, this time Porto are said to be at the front of the queue to sign the Colombian striker.

However, speaking to Football Insider, former England team-mate of Gers gaffer Steven Gerrard, Gabby Agbonlahor, isn’t convinced that the mercurial El Bufalo will be heading off just yet:

“He might see it as a step up,”

“But he’s probably looking at it and thinking ‘Rangers have got a good chance of qualifying for the Champions League through the qualifying rounds and I’ve got a chance to play under a manager who loves me in the Champions League.’

“I don’t see him wanting to go to Porto or accept an offer from them. He’ll want to finish what he’s got going on at Rangers.

“Rangers are on fire at the moment, they’ll attract players.

“He’s only young so he’s got time to make that move in the future. He’s only just turned 25, he’s got plenty of time to make that move.

“I don’t see it happening this summer. He’ll want to have a good go at it in the Champions League and will want to win try and win the league again.”

Agbonlahor makes a good point, Morelos is achieving everything that he set out to at Rangers, there isn’t the same need to move as there once was now that we have won the Scottish Premiership and are in the Champions League, he clearly loves it at the club – and is loved by all associated with it – it’s just a question of what Porto can offer him that we can’t and if it’s enough to persuade him to leave.
