For some reason, this summer Rangers fans have seen a host of transfer rumours about player transfers – in both directions – originating from Turkey and the latest story is no different.

This time, it’s a new club, or one renewing their interest depending on how you look at things, with Fenerbahce said to have Alfredo Morelos’s name on a three man shortlist alongside Alexander Sorloth and Hee-chan Hwang of RB Leipzig, according to Takvim.com.

The report values Morelos around the €12million mark – just over £10m – which is still some way off the club’s £20m valuation, the £16.25m Lille offered and had rejected last summer and is also the figure which has already been rejected when Porto first made a bid.

Interest in Morelos isn’t a new thing, nor is it a surprise, his goal scoring record since signing from HJK Helsinki has been incredible and worth every penny of the £1m transfer fee that was paid to sign him.

He has also shown in the last 12-months that he still has room for improvement, becoming a more rounded striker when it comes to linking up with team-mates and creating space for others, being more aware of those around him rather than focussed solely on getting into shooting positions himself.

Who scored Rangers first ever goal under Steven Gerrard in EL qualification?

Some of the transfer fees being mentioned for Morelos are down right disrespectful, he has a UEFA goal scoring record to his name, has regularly been a top performer in the group stages of the Europa League and, despite the narrative in Scotland, has barely missed a game in continental competition over the last few years.

It’s easy to see why Fenerbahce would want him but they’ll have to dig their hands down an awful lot deeper in their pockets  if they are to prise him away from Ibrox.
