Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed that midfielder Lassana Coulibaly is out of Thursday evening’s Europa League second-leg Play-Off against FC Ufa and it’s also been suggested that he could miss Sunday’s Old Firm against Celtic.
The Daily Record covered the news, and Gerrard is quoted as explaining.
“Lassana is doubtful, very doubtful. The injury has come with more complications than we originally thought. The physio and doctor are doing everything they can to get him back as quickly and safely but he is a big doubt for Ufa.”
Many Rangers fans have latched onto the ‘more complications’ line and are fearful that with a lack of clarity about the 22-year-old’s actual injury problem, this could be something that runs and runs and turns into a few months on the sidelines.
Others believe it could simply be mind games ahead of the weekend and we’ve chosen to rest him on Thursday and let the press write their own stories about inclusion on Sunday.
Interesting to see if Coulibaly travels, or whether it is some mind games. https://t.co/ng59wWA9bF

Been suspicious for a while that Coulibaly has one of these "7-10 days" injuries that can last for 8 months https://t.co/KFVtEcyjDF

Its the lack of any clarity from the club, we spent most of the last two season not knowing what was wrong with Rossiter. Now with Coulibaly we were told about a scan two weeks ago, but not informed of the results and left to guess.

Think Gerrard might be pulling the wool over peoples eyes regarding Coulibaly. Well that’s what I’m hoping anyway ????????

I hope Coulibaly makes it, from what I've seen he's by far our best midfielder, if we qualify for Europa we should use the £ to sign him permanently asap imo

Will be gutted if Coulibaly misses tomorrow and the game on Sunday, that’ll be a huge loss.

Plenty will adopt a wait and see approach.
