Michael Beale can be very pleased with his start to life as Rangers manager, realistically he was five minutes away from a faultless dozen.

Yes, it hasn’t been perfect but with results paramount, there is very little to complain about over the course of the last three months. Since Beale’ return was confirmed, he has put the right building blocks in place, the team is looking much better and playing with a defined style which was sorely absent previously.

There is still work to be done regarding consistency, but there is a definite feel good factor just now ahead of a massive test to come in the League Cup final at the end of the month. That is a massive encounter to follow.

So far, the record sheet reads, played 12, won 11, drawn 1.

Nine wins in the Premiership as well as the Old Firm draw at New Year in addition to the League Cup semi-final win over Aberdeen and progress in the Scottish Cup at St Johnstone, ahead of today’s fifth round clash against Partick Thistle.

Rangers 3 Hibs 2

Aberdeen 2 Rangers 3

Ross County 0 Rangers 1

Rangers 3 Motherwell 0

Rangers 2 Celtic 2

Dundee United 0 Rangers 2

Rangers 2 Aberdeen 1 (LC)

Kilmarnock 2 Rangers 3

St Johnstone 0 Rangers 1 (SC)

Rangers 2 St Johnstone 0

Hearts 0 Rangers 3

Rangers 2 Ross County 1

Two more victories should be expected looking to the week ahead, but the Viaplay Cup Final will really set down a marker, or prove to be another step required.

It won’t quite be pivotal or defining in terms of Michael Beale’s Rangers but the manager will be more than aware of its importance. The stakes are high but so have the standards been to date, under the leadership of the 42-year old.

Onwards and upwards.
