Former Rangers midfielder, and current Scotland assistant manager to Gordon Strachan, Stuart McCall is reportedly set to return to Ibrox as our new manager?

The BBC reported earlier today that the 50-year-old, who played for us between 1991-1998, has ‘accepted the role’ until the end of the current season.

McCall, previously manager at Bradford and with Motherwell until earlier this season before he resigned, hasn’t been confirmed in a role as yet – there hasn’t been a denial either, with things very quiet on this front!

Current caretaker manager Kenny McDowall, who handed in his own 12-month notice period not too long ago, expressed a desire to bring Ian Durrant back into the coaching set up of the first team earlier this week although it’s not known if McDowall would in fact play a role in McCall’s own coaching set up….

Director Paul Murray recently said that ‘appointing a first-team manager is a crucial decision’ and we would be ‘taking some time and get it right’ so is McCall the right option? If indeed he even has been chosen!

We’ll know more later today, at least tomorrow, you would think….
