Rangers linked with 22-goal international as striker chase hots up for Gerrard

|

As predicted, the uncertainty surrounding the future of Alfredo Morelos has only served to fuel the flames of speculation surrounding potential arrivals at Ibrox and a familiar name has resurfaced in the shape of Croatian international striker Mirko Maric, as reported by Rangers News.

Maric plays for a familiar side to the Gers recruitment team in the shape of NK Osijek and various Croatian sources have suggested that a deal is very much on the cards for the 25-year old who scored 22 goals with 6 assists in 40 appearances last season.

Rangers have, of course, already raided Osijek before and so far have a 50 percent success rate, they signed both Borna Barisic and Eros Grezda from them, although the latter has since returned in one of Ross Wilson’s early displays of his ability to strike a good deal for the club.

Maric hasn’t been the only name linked with Steven Gerrard’s side and much will depend on the possible departure of Morelos, given how long the Colombian international has been linked with a move away from the club and the Gers gaffer’s desire to add extra numbers to his attack, it would be tantamount to neglect if the recruitment team doesn’t have an extensive list.

In what season did Steven Gerrard make his Liverpool debut?

Josh Maja and Ivan Toney are names that are refusing to go away and similar to Maric, they all have the something in common, the ability to find the back of the net, a feature of Rangers play that deserted them after the winter break in 2019/20 and if Gerrard gets his men, it could just be the extra spark that his side needs to finally close the gap on Celtic in the most emphatic fashion – by winning the Scottish Premiership title.
