A report came from Yorkshire today adding to further speculation of interest from Leeds United toward Rangers’ Ryan Kent.

The talented attacker was influential in the midweek demolition of Hibs in a game that showed his undoubted ability as well as areas in his game that he would need to improve on, if he was to go and play at a higher level next season.

Sometimes he can appear to get lost amongst the need to deliver week after week at Ibrox but Kent does not hide, as well as his work rate being exemplary. His lack of consistency is a frustration, as everyone knows what he is capable of and has done previously.

It was Leeds Live with the following included:

“Rangers manager Michael Beale has claimed that winger Ryan Kent will have ‘options’ in the summer transfer window but believes he’ll stay with the Scottish club amid rumoured interest from Leeds United.”

“The Whites have been linked with the 26-year-old for numerous transfer windows but a deal has never fully gone through leaving the former Liverpool youth prospect up in Glasgow.”

Decision

Beale was on the record as stating that both Kent and Alfredo Morelos will likely have options on the table.

If a Premier League offer does materialise for the former Liverpool youth, he will snap it up, absolutely. At 26 and approaching what should be the peak years of his career, Kent’s next contract offer will reflect his personal situation, especially as a free agent.

It is most likely that Rangers will present an attractive option to him but any Premier League club, current or prospective (like a Burnley for example) would be able to blow anything from Ibrox out of the water.

That is just a sad reality of modern football and the disparity of finances available on either side of the border. Beyond that, after five seasons at Ibrox the players could feel that the time and moment is the right one for change.

Why is Kent going to stay he is already earning money his club can not up without revolt from other players if he does it means no epl club have offered him a contract

    • Gavin Kelly says:

Kent is still on his original contract and not actually one of the top earners, Burnley’s highest earner isn’t on much more than Connor Goldson, probably the only Prem club Rangers could compete with.

  • William Laing says:

If he does get an EPL offer , it won`t be Leeds they will be in the Championship
