17th April – very much a day to remember for Lee Wallace.
Five years ago today, captain Wallace was part of the Championship Rangers side who beat Celtic on penalties to secure a Scottish Cup final berth.
Fast forward to the present day, the 33-year old has scored his first goal for QPR and what turned out to be the winner in a 1-2 away victory over Middlesborough at lunchtime.

Mark Warburton’s side held on for the win, having to play the last half hour with 10 men.
Wallace’s goal was something of a collector’s item – a header – coming after he followed in an effort from a teammate.
Times past
Of the Rangers squad that defeated Ronny Deila’s Celtic back in 2016, only one man remains at Ibrox, current captain James Tavernier.
A bright moment that season however, was undermined by the loss in the final to Hibs.
Lee Wallace remains a popular figure amongst the Rangers support for his conduct and service during the lower league years – regardless of anything else, that will always he remembered.
The man and player carried himself as a Rangers should.
