Rangers have announced that Nicky Laws will officially become a Rangers player with effect from September 1st.

The 25 year old joins us from Motherwell after spending two years with the club, and he will join up with us for pre season training and will be registered when the transfer embargo ends.

Laws told the Official Site Laws revealed that he talked to Stuart McCall prior to making his decision, and although McCall didn’t want him to leave he left with his best wishes.

‘I spoke to Stuart a couple of times when I knew Rangers’ interest was getting quite serious. It would’ve been stupid for me not to do that. He has been here and done it and is a Rangers legend.’

Laws says that McCall obviously has a lot of affection and admiration for the club and despite not wanting him to go, he did say what an experience and opportunity it would be for him if he joined us.

As well as our history and name, Laws said he was hugely attracted to Ally McCoist’s vision of how he wants to see Rangers grow and progress over the coming years.

He also said elsewhere on the Official Site that the move was not about money as he knows some will claim it is, but he says he could’ve got a bigger wage by moving to one of the English clus that expressed an interest in him.

‘People will probably say I have come here and there is no ambition, but that’s certainly not the case. I could have gone down South and done better financially, but it was never about that. It’s about the football and playing for this club, it was an impossible thing for me to turn down.’
