We’ve seen a few Rangers linked with moves away from Ibrox this summer but a new rumour has emerged over the last couple of days.

Joe Aribo arrived at the club with his former manager claiming that it was the wrong decision for his career, a Scottish Premiership title, knockout stage football in the Europa League and being an established international for Nigeria would now suggest otherwise.

After missing the friendly against Arsenal with a slight knock picked up in training, the 24-year old is now said to be the subject of “concrete” Premier League interest according to a report on Allsoccernigeria.com.

The club isn’t named but one thing is certain, there is no way that Rangers will entertain selling Aribo at this stage of his Rangers career, we already have Glen Kamara, Ryan Jack and Nnamdi Ofoborh missing for the Champions League qualifiers, the last thing Steven Gerrard would want is to be another body short in the middle of the park.

Do Rangers need any more players in midfield?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Aribo is developing into a huge asset for the club, capable of playing almost anywhere on the park, having started out as a centre-half, you get the feeling that if he was asked to slot in alongside Connor Goldson, he would still stroll it, that he finished the season as a left-back says it all about his versatility and value to the team.

Without injury, he should be getting double figures for goals and assists regardless of where he plays which makes an absolute mockery of the £300,000 we paid to sign him, a midfielder who can defend but also play as a number 10, and has his ability on the ball? It’s going to have to be some offer for Gerrard to part with one of his favourite players.
