Rangers fans were glued to their televisions tonight with an exclusive interview with owner Craig Whyte on STV news, followed by an insider documentary on the BBC.

Whyte agreed to be interviewed by STV ahead of the documentary which aired on BBC One Scotland at 7pm. Whyte wanted to assure Rangers fans of a few things before the damning investigation into his past business dealings were revealed in a BBC documentary.

In his interview with STV, Whyte stated:

*He has got nothing to hide about his past business dealings or personal life.

*John Greig was his boyhood hero and his resignation was completely unexpected.

*If Rangers win legal battle with HMRC he will personally pay off Rangers current £18 million debt.

*If Rangers lose, they will not appeal.

*Administration is a possibility but he is doing everything in his power not to let it happen.

*Most importantly he emphasised that Rangers will NEVER go out of business.

Tomorrow night STV News will air the second part of the interview in which Whyte talks about Rangers transfer policy and more.

To the documentary on BBC. You have to admit that some of the findings, if they are to believed, are quite worrying. However in my own personal opinion. I thought the journalist who was presenting the documentary seemed very smarmy and seemed to have an agenda.

On reflection, having watched the show I would have to 100% agree with Craig Whyte and Rangers’ stand point that there is a clear bias against the club. The journalist seemed to be wanting to sensationalize Craig Whyte’s past business failings.

BBC should hang their head’s in shame over the documentary, it was quite clear that they are out to embarrass the Rangers owner ahead of next month’s legal battle with the HMRC.

In the documentary it was claimed that whilst banned from being a company director, Craig Whyte illegally got involved with companies, a claim that Craig Whyte denied in a statement.

I can understand BBC to a certain degree trying to make Rangers fans aware of some of Whyte’s past failings but they failed to put across anything about his successful business ventures and the fact that he cleared Rangers’ debt with Lloyds TSB.

Also, former Rangers chairman Alistair Johnston claimed that Lloyds were ready to pull the plug on Rangers, but a statement from the Lloyds confirmed that they did no such thing.

But who are we to believe? Do we believe Mr Whyte has our best interests at Heart and he is the man to take us forward? Or are we to believe the documentary made by the BBC?

I have had my reservations, especially after John Greig left the club. But after seeing tonight’s interview on STV, and the documentary which DID come across biased. I have no doubt in my mind that we should TRUST Craig Whyte.
