Rangers have moved into first position at the top of the Scottish Premiership table after a 1-0 victory over Hamilton Academical at Ibrox this afternoon.

Daniel Candeias’ early opener was enough to secure all three points and leapfrog Celtic, who lost earlier in the day away to Hibernian.

It was a massive result in the context of the season and while the performance wasn’t quite to the standard required week-to-week, Steven Gerrard’s side did well to bounce back from Thurday’s disappointment in Austria.

Fans were convinced by some of the players on the pitch though and one start who was criticised more than most was Kyle Lafferty.

The Northern Ireland international was named in the starting eleven as a replacement for the suspended Alfredo Morelos but failed to offer much threat whatsoever, despite exceptional delivery from players such as Borna Barisic.

It’s fair to say supporters are concerned with his recent form, with many taking to Twitter to share their frustrations after today’s game…
