Connor Goldson’s future should be confirmed very soon but with a message posted on Instagram tonight, it appears that his Rangers career is over.

That has been the indication for some time now, with no contract extension signed as well as a downbeat message from the manager recently on the prospects of the former Brighton man extending his stay in Glasgow.

With several images referencing the Europa League Final as well as the Scottish Cup triumph, Goldson also included the following message on his social media post:

“60 game season full of highs and lows and ending it with silverware. Days and nights that will stay with me forever.”

Closure

The above message is as close to a goodbye that we will get, until his next move is officially confirmed. An Ibrox stay would be a major surprise at his stage, but the sooner both parties have closure, the better.

Newly promoted Nottingham Forest have been tipped as a likely destination for Goldson where he would be set for a reunion with Joe Worrall following his loan spell at Ibrox during the 2018/19 season.

Such a move would be great for the player for a year, with major questions marks after that. Family and finance will of course have a bearing, so it will be interesting to see and hear what develops in the coming days.

Forest have been continually linked with the 29-year old going back to January when it was emerging that a protracted contract situation was underway. The Nottingham Post previously reported:

“Nottingham Forest are said to be chasing the signature of Rangers defender Connor Goldson – but they are not the only Championship side being linked with a move. He is now free to speak to interested clubs, with the Reds and West Bromwich Albion competing to secure a pre-contract agreement.”

“The two teams are said to “have emerged as the strongest suitors” for Goldson, although it is claimed at least one other club “is pushing hard” to snap up the centre-back.”

That was then and now we are very much at the end game stage of Connor Goldson’s next career step.
