Gers linked winger with €4m buy out clause continues to impress

|

Rangers will continue to strengthen the first-team squad and one name who was mentioned in January is continuing to impress.

Francis Amuzu – who has a release clause of €4million  – was linked with a move to Steven Gerrard’s side last month and the Anderlecht winger has gone from strength to strength, after two assists in a 5-0 Belgian Cup win, Vincent Kompany said of the Ghanian star:

”He is a guy who has a lot of margin for progression. Amuzu creates a lot of danger and I don’t just look at his statistics, because he has created a lot of chances that were then not finished.

“We can still make a lot of progress in terms of our efficiency (in front of goal).”

With Brandon Barker and Jordan Jones ulikely to be seen in a Rangers shirt again and the arrival of Scott Wright, it appears that there is still room for one more player capable of operating either out wide or in support of a striker and Amuzu fits that profile.

Amuzu’s statistics for the season aren’t exactly spectacular with just one goal and three assists in 24 appearances but we have to trust our recruitment team when it comes to analysing potential and whether or not they could develop the player further to turn a profit.

Do we need another winger?

No

In the 90s it was always exciting being linked with some of Europe’s finest players, household names that we had seen on Champions League nights, times have changed though and this is the sort of player we have to get accustomed to paying money for, does it make it any less exciting, not for me – who doesn’t love the speculation of a pacey winger being linked to Rangers?
