Gerrard’s “clever” side hailed with Rangers destined to be champions

|

Although it may be something of an obvious statement and one that is relatively risk free, Kilmarnock full-back Brandon Haustrup has given his verdict on Rangers title charge after coming face to face with Steven Gerrard’s relentless side at the weekend.

The Scotsman has reported on Haustrup’s post-match comments and when asked if he felt that the Gers can finish the job, he said:

“If they keep playing like they are, then I’m sure they will be champions.

“They’re a good team and they are where they are in the league for a reason. You don’t not lose a game all season by playing badly. That’s what these teams are like. If it takes that one piece of brilliance to win a game, like they produced against us, how often do you see that at the higher level?

“They’re really good, they’re clever. They will get that lead, they find the gaps when a team is chasing, especially towards the end. They are good on the counter, they are pacy. There maybe just wasn’t enough quality from us compared to them.”

The scoreline may only have said 1-0 but it really should have been a lot more with chances being missed and opportunities to play in team-mates when they were wide open passed up, we weren’t at our decisive best but still rode out comfortable winners – remember when Killie used to cause us problems?

What would you rather?

Dominant 1-0 win

Dominant 1-0 win

End to end 3-2 win

End to end 3-2 win

Gerrard has always wanted us to be relentless, and we are getting there, we won’t win 3-0 every week but sometimes it’s about the manner in which you win, the lack of hope given to the opposition, rather than how many goals you score.
