Yesterday, news broke of Rangers reported interest in Anderlecht’s Francis Amuzu.

The Scottish Sun ran the story today on the Ghana-born Belgium U21 international.

However, a trusted source close to VitalRangers has played down this proposed transfer bid as purely speculation.

“The original report suggests claims by a ‘Scottish source’ but there appears to be zero truth in it for now.”

“Locally, there are a few journalists covering Anderlecht closely – a club not renowned for keeping things secret.”

“There has been no comment from them on Rangers interest in Amuzu and it seems really unlikely that nobody would know about one of their better players being on the move.”

The same source described Francis Amuzu as “a talented player who often lacks an end product”.

Rangers will not often be buying a finished article and it seems unlikely that they would be spending a significant amount on a player who is contracted to Anderlecht until 2024.

So far this season, he has made 17 Jupiler Pro League appearances with one goal and one assist recorded.

In the player’s native country, the SportsWorldGhana website has stated that Amuzu is under consideration by Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton.
