Richard Foster has committed his future to Rangers after being released by Bristol City.

He is the 7th free agent to join up with Rangers and Ally McCoist so far this season and he will again be registered officially from September 1.

The 27 year old right back spent a loan on loan at the club back in the 2010-11 season when his parent club was Aberdeen, and he made 24 appearances in all competitions including European competition.

Foster is one game shy of 350 career games, and speaking to the Official Site after the deal was done, said that already knowing the expectation levels of the club and the fans, should stand him in good stead as a senior member of the team to help further educate our youngsters.

‘The fans here expect a certain level of performance and expect to win every game. Hopefully I can bring something to the team in that respect. When I first came here, I did get my eyes opened a bit and I realised just how big the club was. Now, already knowing, I understand what to expect.’

Foster also said elsewhere on the Official Site that although it was frustrating that he couldn’t really get going until September 1 because of the embargo conditions, he was planning on keeping himself in peak shape so he could hit the ground running when he gets the opportunity.
