Rangers fan stories from all over the world.

That is exactly what ‘Follow We Will’ is all about, a new book written by Stuart Thomson and Stan Gordon.

‘With individual stories from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Holland and all over the UK, the consistent theme, is passion, loyalty, commitment, mixed in with unbreakable friendships and a few shenanigans from all over the globe.’

Following the book launch last week at the Stonefield Tavern in Blantyre, this release is flying off the shelves.

Covering over 50 years of devotion from the Rangers supporters to the club they adore, the stories and characters within take you on a journey dating back to Nuremburg in 1967, right up to Liege earlier this season, when Bears were in the ground despite no official away allocation due to pandemic led restrictions.

VitalRangers spoke recently to co-author Stuart Thomson on his aims and motivations behind the project:

“Follow We Will has been a labour of love, I’ve really enjoyed it.”

“I just wanted to document the stories and the passion from Rangers supporters around the world and the lengths that they go to, in the name of our club, it really is remarkable.”

“The stories in the book are so different and varied but collectively, the love for Rangers shines through.”

“With the recent title win, everyone is so happy and joyful about the club and the book adds to that feeling – the vast majority of supporters will be able to relate to many of the stories in the book, I really hope that the Rangers fanbase will enjoy reading it.”

Adventures

Robie Ferguson of Glasgow was a contributor to FWW, he stated:

“My first away trip abroad was to Bilbao in 1969, in the Fairs Cup. Since then, my love for Rangers has taken me on over 200 trips all over Europe, South Africa, USA, Canada & Australia. From cup games to pre-season friendlies and tours, I have made good friends all over the world. Every trip has been an adventure following The Rangers.”

Another was Ross McGill of the Union Bears fan group, who commented:

“Our club and support really are second to none, and this experience at the time (in Leipzig) was a taster for the younger generation of trips to come and a bit of hope for our entire support, that natural order would one day be restored, and we would be back in Europe, following our club and at the top of Scottish football once again. Thankfully we are now there and 55 has been achieved. We are back….”

Follow We Will is a must-read for any Rangers supporter, fan culture enthusiast or follower of football in general.

The book is on sale for £9.99 via the website – www.followwewill.com – as well as other retailers, including Waterstones and Amazon.
