“Insulting” offer for Gers “target” rejected

|

Rangers have been linked – mainly by the Scottish media – for Aberdeen’s Lewis Ferguson with the Scottish youth cap reportedly the subject of a bid from Premier League new boys Watford.

An offer in the region of £1.2million has been rejected as “insulting” leading to the player handing in a transfer request, as explained, via The Daily Record, by his agent, Bill McMurdo:

“I can confirm that Lewis has handed in a written transfer request to Aberdeen.

“When he signed the extension to his contract, he made it clear that he saw his future in the English Premier League.

“An English Premier League club has now made an offer, which has been rejected, but the club involved haven’t been given an asking price, which is disappointing.”

So, although there doesn’t appear to be a specific release clause, when a club blocks what is fundamentally a player’s dream it’s not a good look, from our own experience, Alfredo Morelos has always been open about where his future lies but he knows that he won’t be sold for anything less than the club’s valuation of him.

Ross Wilson has shown in his time as the Rangers sporting director that he is not one to overpay and will drive a hard bargain to get his man, Ferguson is undoubtedly a talented player but there is no way we would enter into a bidding war with a Premier League side – there are bargains to be had, Lewis Ferguson just isn’t one of them.
