Supporters attending the Scottish Cup game between Rangers and Partick Thistle at Ibrox on Sunday have been given a travel update with news that the Glasgow Subway service will be extended.

Normal operating hours would mean that the service would be closed shortly after full-time, approximately 6pm, but due to the game being set for a 4pm kick-off the authorities have enabled an extra couple of hours on ‘the underground’.

An update ahead of the game from Ibrox stated:

‘The Subway is open until 8pm this Sunday with last train from the inner circle leaving Ibrox Station at 19:25.’

‘Supporters intending on using the train network should be aware of planed engineering works that may affect your journey.’

It is a common sense adaptation for the scheduling of this fixture, especially when there will also be a demand from Partick supporters but not one that can be taken for granted with the far from excellent public transport infrastructure around Glasgow.

The same fan update from the club advised of later opening hours for the New Edmiston House as well. Those going to the game, can avail of the recently launched facilities before and after the game, with children permitted in what is an important delivery for the matchday experience.

Early reports indicate a very decent work in progress and the club should be allowed some time to improve a couple of early issues in order to improve further on the current offering.

Sunday’s Scottish Cup fifth round tie against the Jags will be televised live on Viaplay Sports UK.
