Rangers star Joe Aribo today paid tribute to his Ibrox team-mate Steven Davis, describing him as someone that he looks up to.

Speaking at the press conference today as shown on Rangers official YouTube channel, the Nigerian international also provided some insight on his own recent form as well as the team’s performances.

When Aribo was asked about Davis and the recent landmark for the Northern Ireland captain, he was full of praise.

He responded, “Just seeing everything he does in and around the building. You can see it with his recovery and his work in the gym.”

“He’s just a wonderful pro and you can see why he’s played 300 games here. He’s just the model pro and a role model to me.”

It could be said that there are similar traits in Aribo and Davis. Both appear to be humble and reserved individuals so Steven Gerrard and the Rangers support will be hoping that further guidance from the Ulsterman can get the best out of Aribo, to provide inspiration to maximise his expression and impact on the pitch.

Improvement

The 24 year old was also asked about his thoughts on his own game, his contribution on goals and assists in terms of self-analysis.

Aribo stated, “I do that every single game. Obviously, you want to come off the pitch having got assists and scored goals.”

“Every day I want to improve my game and analyse how I can do that.”

“I’ve spoke to the Gaffer about where and how I can improve, with my technique, etc.”

Consistency is the word that comes to mind in regard to Joe Aribo. There is no doubt that he is very talented and capable but the criticism would be that he does not show it often enough.

With Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield on the mend, Aribo will be fighting to keep hold of his starting place as he aims to show his worth in his vital second season in Glasgow.
