Rangers have ‘no chance’ of signing Dominic Solanke this January, according to talkSPORT.

Solanke was again reported to be a subject of interest for manager Steven Gerrard this weekend, with The Scottish Sun leading reports that the Gers were on the verge of a stunning January signing.

However, Anfield sources have told talkSPORT there is little chance of the deal happening.

Striking options should be a priority for the club when the transfer window does open – for three reasons.

One is that Umar Sadiq looks nowhere near good enough to be playing for Rangers and should be returned to parent side Roma.

Kyle Lafferty isn’t exactly a title-winning option either and is back-up at best.

Finally, Alfredo Morelos’ form has been incredible this year and that will undoubtedly attract cash rich clubs to his services, potentially leaving us in the lurch from a playing perspective.

Whether it’s Solanke, or another quality option, it’s something the recruitment team at Ibrox must be taking seriously. It’s a position that could obviously make the difference between winning trophies and not.

Just look at the impact that missing Morelos and Lafferty in the League Cup semi-final had.
