Joey Veerman has been heavily linked to Rangers, amid his expected departure from Heerenveen this Summer – now his current captain has weighed in on the speculation.

Not only would Rangers be buying real potential in the 22-year old, there is a significant sell-on incentive with Veerman as well as the fact that he is already a very good footballer.

Over the 20/21 season, the Dutch youth cap notched up a very decent seven goals and ten assists in the Eredivisie with a further two and one, respectively, in the Dutch Cup.

Heerenveen captain Henk Veerman has stated his belief that the club will cash-in on his namesake and that he can prosper, wherever he goes – as reported by the Daily Record:

“I’ve read things about Atalanta, Rangers, PSV, Ajax and AZ.”

“I expect him to go to one of those clubs. I also think that Joey will add value for any club in the Netherlands.”

Skipper Veerman also hinted at implications for his own future at the Frisian club,

“If things change enormously (at the club). That is a serious problem for me.”

Budget

If Joey Veerman does land at Ibrox, it will come as a result of a significant outlay – almost certainly, significantly more than £5million.

That would represent most of the expected initial budget with any further purchases dependent on player trading and potential Ibrox exits.

As posed by VitalRangersit could be that Veerman will be the only real money spent this Summer.

With Fashion Sakala already confirmed and the out of contract John Lundstram linked, the Gers are once again shopping effectively.

This is an exciting chase and one to watch – the Dutchman has the quality and the skillset to contribute to take Rangers to the next level, as is required domestically and in Europe.
