It’s March 2012 and it is one of the worst times to be a Rangers fan but little did Ally McCoist know that his defiant words would one day turn out to be as prophetic:
“At this moment in time we are wounded, there’s no doubt about it and there are probably one or two people out there enjoying it.
“Maybe one or two people having a wee fly kick.
“I would suggest to them to have a right good kick just now because we won’t be where we are for long.
“I don’t want to elaborate on who has had a kick at us, it will just go down avenues I don’t want to go down.
“Let’s just say, while we’re down there we’re having a look up and we’re seeing what we’re seeing.”
One club that was front and centre throughout Rangers difficulties was Dundee United, a club that had already fractured relations by refusing to sell players to us and perhaps more pertinently, charging away fans twice for the same fixture when Walter Smith’s side were on their way to the title in 2009.

That they are now begging their fans for money has been seen as karma by Rangers fans who have taken to Twitter in response to their Oliver Twist-like request.

Just charge your own fans for the same match twice. That seems to work out ok…

Any sympathy for Dundee United?
Yes
No
It might sound harsh, but given the way that the likes of Dundee United responded to our own financial difficulties, there would be nothing that would please Rangers fans more than for them to suffer a similar – or worse – fate than our own.
