Deal agreed – striker coming to Rangers from the Netherlands

Latest reports have indicated that a deal is in place for Rangers to sign Antonio Colak from PAOK.

The Croatian international is now to depart the Greek club’s Dutch training camp in order to meet up with Ibrox officials to undergo a medical which would secure the move.

The developments started to filter through late last night, with more acknowledgement this morning on what would be Rangers first outlay of the current transfer window.

Antonio Colak on his way to the UK for his medical after Rangers & PAOK finalised a deal for the Croatian striker.

The 29-year old will be the first signing of the window in a transfer worth around £1.8m + bonuses.

Despite soundings from Greece of a deal well in excess of €2mil, sources close to Rangers are briefing that the tipping point remains at £1.8 million since last week when there was a general consensus on negotiations.

PAOK’s reticence to rubber stamp the move was dependent on securing a replacement for 28-year old Colak, which now appears to be in place.

Getting this move completed will be a big relief to all at Rangers, especially the fans, who have been so eager to see reinforcements arrive ahead of the new season. From GIo van Bronckhorst’s perspective, he gets another solid, senior option up front and a man who knows what it takes to navigate the Champions League qualifiers, as we know all too well at Ibrox.

The Croat was central to Malmo’s progression this time last year as his form fired the Jon Dahl Tomasson’s team into the group stages last season, overcoming Rangers and Ludogorets to seal their place.
