Earlier today the Express reported that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard had dismissed potential transfer moves for Ryan Gauld and Nathan Dyer but was less dismissive when it came to the subject of previously referenced Nottingham Forest centre-half Joe Worrall.

There is also a new rumour on the mill today, Rolando Aarons.

The outlet quote him as saying about Worrall that he felt he was a ‘fantastic player’ and somebody that he’d been following for ‘many years with England’ and as mentioned above, I’ve previously covered speculation suggesting we were looking to secure a loan deal for the 21-year-old before the window shuts.

“Hopefully we can get a centre-back in. I’m not sure if it’s loan or permanent – could be either.”

With the injury to Jamie Murphy and him being sidelined for the remainder of the season, he said of links suggesting moves for Gauld and Dyer.

“Nothing in it. I’ve been asked about Nathan Dyer and there’s nothing in that either.”

The Mirror state we are in a battle with Hull City and AEK Athens for 22-year-old Newcastle United winger Aarons and although his career has stalled with a previous injury and contract wrangling, he seems far more a Gerrard type player to me.

With a fair bit of interest in the Dyer deal coming off from fans, there will be disappointment for some there unless it’s a complete red herring from the gaffer.
