Ally McCoist has backed striker Kris Boyd to stay at Ibrox – and smash the Rangers Legend’s goalscoring record.

Boyd is out of contract in the summer and it is looking increasingly difficult for us to keep him. Middlesbrough, Birmingham, Aston Villa and others have all been quoted with an interest in the player.

Coisty told The Daily Record: ‘It would be unfair of me to say Kris will beat my record of 355 goals or he won’t. I’d never put that pressure on him.
‘However, what I’d say is that in his own generation he’s the finest finisher around. There’s no one to compare with him when it comes to putting the ball in the net. He’s the best in the business.
‘Would I be happy to see him break my record? That’s a cheeky question! But if he stayed at Rangers I’d be happy for him to break it. I’d be thrilled – after all, it would mean we’d be winning just about everything.’

As time goes on, I’m more hopeful Boyd will stay – he doesn’t want to play for anyone else as he’s living his dream. However, money will talk if we undervalue him.
