Nicky Clark has said he’s looking to make it two Ramsdens Cup Finals on the bounce when Rangers face off against Raith Rovers this weekend.

Rangers are out to win the competition for the first time in their history, but Clark of course helped Queen of the South to the trophy last season so he’s been more than well placed to let his colleagues know how it feels and what it would mean to the fans.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the encounter, Clark explained.

‘It was the first cup final I’d ever played in so I remember it well. We had a hard run to get to the final and when we got there nobody really fancied us. In extra time I was knackered to be honest but I was buzzing to get the goal and as soon as a I scored I came off. I thought one goal would be enough which was frustrating but we did well in the penalty shoot out.’

Having been substituted in the game, Clark never got to see the match out and take part in the penalties himself and he admits his nerves were almost shot knowing he could do nothing else to help.

Of course the aim for Clark now will be to play as important a role again for Rangers this weekend, but this time see the game through until the final whistle or whatever becomes the final whistle in the encounter if he can.

If he can make it back to back victories in the competition it would be a hell of a thing for him on a personal level, but he also knows what it will mean to the club and the fans given the last few years we’ve had to endure.

‘We’re all buzzing for it, it’s a massive game for the club. It will be a challenging game but we’ll be right up for it. The atmosphere will be great and it will be a full house. We’ll have loads of fans there so it will be a great occasion.’
