Manager Ally McCoist has admitted that Jon Daly will likely have a late fitness test ahead of the game against Raith Rovers in the Ramsdens Cup Final after feeling his hamstring in the latter stages of today’s win over Arbroath.
Having been substituted very late on in the match, Daly is now of course another consideration for the gaffer as he begins to prepare for the final.
Speaking to the Official Site, the gaffer explained.
‘I’m hoping Jon just didn’t want to take any chances and we’ll assess him in the next 24-48 hours. His goal was a sensational header and we’re obviously hoping he wanted to come off as a precaution more than anything. I’m keeping my fingers and everything else crossed but we’ll have to listen to Jon and the medical people before we make a call.’
Daly isn’t the only concern ahead of the game, as McCoist has already spoken about Ian Black, but we also have issues over Nicky Law and look set to be without Andy Little and David Templeton also.
‘They’ll be given every opportunity – as will Blackie – to prove fitness. Injuries are coming at a bad time for us, but there’s never a good time to get injuries.’
Have to hope heading into this period now they are the only concerns we have and nobody else feels anything post match and declares themselves as a doubt.
The club have also commented about the ongoing problems Lewis Macleod has, and despite press speculation, they say there is no definitive diagnosis on his problem, but initial investigations suggest that he had an unusual reaction to a common virus and that has unfortunately led to injury in his muscles, including his heart muscles, but until a full diagnosis in known, they don’t believe it suits anybody to speculate further.
