Manager Ally McCoist has said that as far as he is concerned Rangers don’t share any bad blood with Raith Rovers given the comments of their director Turbull Hutton and he views on which division Rangers should be demoted to following our administration.
At first it was mooted that Rangers could begin life back in the old First Division – now the SPFL Championship – following the vote to remove us from the Premiership and Hutton was extremely vocal in his belief that this shouldn’t be the case and that we should start at the bottom of the tier again.
With many suggesting that this means ahead of our Ramsdens Cup Final against them, we’ll have a score to settle over some perceived injustice, McCoist rubbishes the thoughts saying that many within the club agreed the most appropriate place for the club under the NewCo was the third division.
‘We actually agreed with Turnbull. He’s very forthright with his views and he’s quite entitled to his opinions. We complain when people don’t say what they think so I’ve no problem with that. The vast majority actually agreed with Turnbull’s views.’
McCoist goes on to say that given that fact and in respect of it, he can’t say Hutton was wrong in what he said as that was the general consensus, so it would be daft really to try and base a rivalry or have something additional to play for, over comments that were generally agreed with.
The gaffer goes on to say that suggestions of bad blood are rubbish, as he has been a guest of their hospitality along with Kenny McDowall in their recent Ramsdens Semi Final and the experience was first class, so he has no concerns whatsoever on that score.
‘It was absolutely first class. It was great. Turnbull and Eric (Drysdale) are great men and we’ve spoken on various occasions. We’ve met a meetings at Hampden and at games and it’s always good craic. They’ll be absolutely determined for their team to win, but on Sunday it will be up to us that they don’t have it.’
