It’s fair to say that, at present, Rangers and Celtic are a world apart – on form at least. Whilst the Hoops have started impressing over the last few weeks, the ‘Gers have fallen well short.
We failed to pick up a win on Wednesday night, again, and it’s clear that Steven Gerrard has a lot of work to do as he looks to improve Rangers’ game.
Speaking on BT Sport, he said: “Before the season started, everyone was saying it was going to take Rangers 2-3 years to get close to Celtic”.
‘On Sunday, you saw the difference between where both the clubs are. You saw Celtic, who know how to win big games, and you’ve seen Rangers…who were a bit wandering at times’, he added. The full video can be seen below, and the above quote can be heard around the 5-minute mark.
Does Scott Allan need to leave Celtic in January?
Stubbs: "He needs to be playing, wherever that is."
Craigan: "He's too good, we need him playing in our top league."https://t.co/VqfEgLiA14

Clearly, the point here is that Rangers are just lacking that experience that only comes with competing in big games.
That’s not just the players, of course, but it’s Gerrard too. Sure, the Liverpool legend has done it all as a player, but coming in as a manager is an entirely different prospect. He’s shown his inexperience at times, and that was always going to be the case.
It was always clear that the process of Gerrard taking over wasn’t going to improve things overnight. What Stubbs is saying is absolutely true, but with every bad result, the ‘Gers will only grow tougher and more experienced.
Thoughts?
