It’s fair to say that we’re in a tough run at the moment, and there are more than a few problems that we’re having to deal with.
Steven Gerrard, clearly, is the right man for the job, but this is his biggest test yet, and it will be very interesting to see when, or indeed if, the Englishman is able to get us out the other side.
In the eyes of the players it seems, though, this isn’t an issue for the manager to sort on his own. It’s down to the squad, at least that’s the perspective of Ryan Jack.
As per the official Rangers website, Jack said: “We need to come up with the answers. We can’t just keep the ball and nothing happening”.
He added: “We are the ones on the pitch and we are the ones who need to come up with the answers”.
It’s certainly an honest approach to take, as Gerrard has done a lot to try and turn this around. It gets to a point in which it’s simply down to the players on the pitch, as the manager’s influence effectively ends when they step between the white lines.
Essentially, Jack is stating what he thinks the problem is – a lack of lethality. It’s fair to say that whilst Rangers have looked good broadly, they’ve failed to make much of an impact in front of goal.
If they can solve that issue, as Jack says, they’ll be in a better spot. The route to that, though, is far from easy.
