Steven Gerrard has already spoken about “fixing the roof whilst the sun shines” making it clear that he believes his squad should be improved from a position of strength rather than waiting until changes need to be made.

There is an acceptance that Rangers will have to sell at least one key player this summer, finances dictate this, however, this doesn’t mean that we will be a soft touch and be handing out bargains, as the gaffer revealed during his post-match press conference on trophy day, as reported by Glasgow Live:

“I’ve had some really interesting meetings with the board and they’re with me. They’ll back me.

“We’ll go again and try to build on this success.

“Can I keep these players together? Well, let me flip the question for you.”If anyone wants to take them away from me, they best bring an army with them.”

We are both buying and selling from a position of strength now, we know that we have more than one valuable asset and that any of  8-10 players would command eight-figure transfer fees, how times have changed.

It’s encouraging that the board believes in what Gerrard and his team are trying to accomplish and with Ross Wilson involved we can be assured that no penny will be wasted and that any player that does leave will do so with us getting the better side of the bargain – remember, this is the man that got a fee and sell on clause for Eros Grezda!
