With Ridvan Yilmaz completing his move to Rangers, the strength of feeling and warmth from Besiktas and their supporters toward the young player was very prevalent across their social media content.

It provides a great encouragement for all at Rangers in terms of what to look forward to, but the feeling wasn’t shared by the Black Eagles boss, Valerien Ismael.

The French coach vented at the loss of his talented player, who he often deployed as a wing back beyond his preferred three central defenders.

Spor Haber 7 reported:

“We wanted to keep Rıdvan. I told him that with this fast-paced game, he could attract more attention at the international level with the influence of his youth.”

“Everyone is happy right now, probably only me may not be happy with the current situation. We are looking for players with the same quality who can fit into our system.”

The reality is that the Turkish game and its big clubs are not quite on the level that they were a few years ago.  As for attracting more attention on the main stage, just ask Calvin Bassey for his thoughts.

It is no surprise that the coach is very frustrated at the loss of Ridvan Yilmaz, it evidences how much he was valued and the talent that he possesses. Now the challenge for Ismael and Besisktas is to replace the Turkish international, with the fee received for his services not reflecting his true value – in a similar vein to Joe Aribo’s switch to Southampton with both players entering the last 12 months of their respective contracts.

The exciting next chapter for Yilmaz will be at Ibrox with the pursuit of Scottish titles and European achievements ahead of him. An interesting period lies ahead for the Turkish player and the other six new additions to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad.
