This really isn’t what Rangers fans wanted to hear but Michael Beale has opened up on the prospect of three key players missing out on the Viaplay Cup final against Celtic, next Sunday.

Malik Tillman, John Lundstram and Ryan Jack missed the win over Livingston due to injury and they are rated doubtful to make the cut for the Old Firm showdown at Hampden when the first silverware of the season will be decided.

He may not have much choice but Beale is ready for what a manic week ahead of the game will bring, with late calls most likely on the trio.

The Rangers boss stated on the matter:

“They (Tillman, Lundstram, Jack) are big doubts because they were not available. Malik has got a problem with his hamstring, Jacko with his calf and obviously John with his ankle. I’m optimistic to think those plus maybe Scott Arfield will return to training at the back end of the week but it will be touch and go.”

“What you saw today might be what we have and I was delighted with what I got today.”

Wait

Given the significant form of Tillman in recent weeks, his loss would be a particular blow and it shows just far far he has risen in prominence having only been at the club since last Summer. He offers so much going forward meaning the team would feel his absence, should that be the case.

Lundstram and Jack offer much more protection in defence and off the ball. They are big game players who have been relied upon before so it would be a considerable blow if they were to miss out. Much of the next week will be a waiting game but that where Michael Beale is at just now.

Thankfully, the recent impacts of Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin have already vindicated their January signings and as stated above, the manager is ready and willing to pitch them into battle.
