Michael Beale was very clear in terms of his satisfaction following Rangers comprehensive 0-3 win over Livingston on Saturday afternoon.

It was far from a case of taking the three points for granted, it certainly wasn’t going to be easy and considering the challenge of a dogged opposition and a difficult surface, it was all about securing the win.

With no further injuries incurred, a clean sheet for Allan McGregor and a few positives to take, the afternoon couldn’t have went much better.

Beale echoed that feeling, with his comments post-match:

“We came here with a bit of a patched-up team in some ways although the starting 11 was very good. You can see that we have got a number of players missing so I am delighted to get out of here with the result – and obviously 3-0 was quite emphatic in the end.”

“I’ve been here a lot and there are not too many days I’ve come away so happy as I am today.”

This game came in the middle of a trio of commitments in different competitions following Scottish Cup progression last week. It maintained the pace in the Premiership behind Celtic who also racked up another win, ahead of the meeting at Hampden next Sunday in the Viaplay Cup final.

A long week of build-up and preparation for that massive encounter will begin almost immediately, once the dust settles on the latest win, an effective one for Beale’s men.

Next up is a chance to lift silverware and in the process, to make a significant statement of intent and ability.
