Michael Beale has shut down speculation linking Rangers with a move this month for Everton midfielder Tom Davies.

Largely fuelled by Beale’s openness and willingness to respond to a question, it had been assumed that the player was one that the Gers were keen to lan but that has now been refuted.

Whilst the Todd Cantwell situation remains in play and ongoing, as well as more recent links to Swansea’s Morgan Whittaker, Tuesday’s press conference ahead of the Kilmarnock game resulted in the end of one particular transfer story.

When asked about Davies, the manager’s retort was direct and conclusive:

“There is no interest on our side towards Tom. There has been no talk about Tom, you caught me on the hop that day and I said a couple of nice things about him because he is a young British player who I saw coming through as a young player.”

Waiting

Michael Beale travelled south after the recent Celtic game and during this time he spoke to a number of players who would be available for a switch in the near future. He also stated that it could be two, three or four new faces to arrive this month. The result is that fans and media have been left guessing, filling the void ahead of the expectation of news to follow.

Given how public the manager has been, as well as the need on the pitch, there has to be business done this January. Over the next two games, Rangers should be able to get the desired victories but standing still isn’t an option in terms of the next few weeks and toward the Summer.
